Ingredients

  • 312 grams all-purpose flour see note
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a small bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a separate large bowl, use an electric mixer to beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract for 1 minute.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing on low speed until combined.
  • Gradually beat the flour mixture into the wet ingredients on low speed until fully incorporated.
  • Stir in the chocolate chips using a spatula. (Optional: Add nuts if desired; this recipe omits nuts.)
  • Line a baking sheet with a silicone mat or parchment paper. Place 6-8 tablespoon-sized dough balls on the sheet, evenly spaced.
  • Bake for 9 to 11 minutes, or until the cookies are golden brown.
  • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 15-20 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For precise measurement, use the aerate, spoon, and level method for flour. I measured 2 ¼ cups plus 2 tablespoons of flour, which equaled 312 grams when weighed.
If removing nuts from the recipe, add an extra 7.8-15.6 grams of flour.
